DOI-to-metadata query

Metadata may be retrieved in JSON format using our REST API, or in XML format as documented below.

Most DOI-to-metadata queries are done via HTTPS using synchronous HTTPS queries, but may also be submitted as asynchronous batch queries.

Example HTTPS query

https://0-doi-crossref-org.libus.csd.mu.edu/servlet/query?pid={email@address.com}&format=unixref&id=DOI

OpenURL query

We support DOI queries formatted as OpenURL version 0.1 requests. For complete metadata (UNIXREF) include the format="unixref" parameter.

https://0-www-crossref-org.libus.csd.mu.edu/openurl/?pid={myemail@crossref.org}&format=unixref&id=doi:10.1577/H02-043&noredirect=true

DOI-to-metadata XML batch query

DOI-to-metadata queries can also be performed using XML, allowing the use of control features available only with XML queries.

Example XML query

<?xml version = "1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<query_batch version="2.0" xmlns = "https://0-www-crossref-org.libus.csd.mu.edu/qschema/2.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

       <query key="mykey" expanded-results="true">
           <doi>10.1006/jmbi.2000.4282</doi>
       </query>
   </body>
