This year, Crossref’s Nominating Committee assumed the task of developing a slate of candidates to fill six open board seats. We are grateful that in the midst of a challenging year, we received over 70 expressions of interest from all around the world, a 40% increase from last year’s response. It was an extraordinary pool of applicants and a testament to the strength of our membership community.
There are six seats open for election (two large, four small), and the Nominating Committee is pleased to present the following slate.
The Initiative for Open Abstracts (I4OA) launched this week. The initiative calls on scholarly publishers to make the abstracts of their publications openly available. More specifically, publishers that work with Crossref to register DOIs for their publications are requested to include abstracts in the metadata they deposit in Crossref. These abstracts will then be made openly available by Crossref. 39 publishers have already agreed to join I4OA and to open their abstracts.
Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t go any faster, it’s Peer Review week again! Peer Review is such an important part of the research process and highlighting the role it plays is key to retaining and reinforcing trust in the publishing process.
Frankfurt Book Fair (#FBM20) will be online this year since people are really not traveling right now. This special edition of #FBM20 will have an extensive digital program in which we will be participating. So you can hang out with us from anywhere in the world!
Metadata Manager (beta) offers a simple way to deposit and update metadata, for both single and multiple deposits. Start from Metadata Manager, and enter your Crossref username and password. If you have forgotten your username or password, please contact us to retrieve them. As well as this detailed documentation, here is our Metadata Manager tutorial:
After logging in, you will see your Metadata Manager workspace. This is where all deposits occur, both new deposits and updates to content you’ve already registered with Crossref. To return to this view at any time, click Home at the top of the screen.
Your workspace holds your list of publications, and it will be blank when you first log in. As you add the publications you want to manage to Metadata Manager, they’ll start collecting on this screen.
You can add new publications and edit existing publications you have previously submitted to our system from your workspace. You can also click into each publication and add or edit articles against them.
The home button - Return to the overview of all your publications by clicking Home.
Deposit history - See your previous deposits made via Metadata Manager (excludes deposits via other deposit methods such as HTTPS post, or the web deposit form).
To deposit - Shows items for which you’ve entered information, but have not yet deposited with us. The number next to To deposit shows how many records are awaiting deposit.
Your username - Shows the username you’ve used to log in. Click the down arrow to access account functions, log out, and view a tutorial of Metadata Manager.
Search publication - This search bar allows you to find and add publications to your workspace. You can search by title name or title-level DOI.
New publication - This section allows you to create a new journal and add it to your workspace.
